MONTREAL -- Prime Minister Paul Martin called Saturday for those involved in the secret recordings of conversations between Liberals and a Tory MP to co-operate with the federal ethics commissioner's investigation.
Martin expressed his support for the probe, to be headed by Bernard Shapiro, and renewed his allegations the tapes were manipulated before being made public: "I think that member Grewal and Mr. Harper's office have a lot to answer for."
B.C. Conservative Gurmant Grewal secretly recorded conversations he had with Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh and Tim Murphy, Martin's chief of staff. The Conservatives say the recordings show the Grits were prepared to offer Grewal rewards if he supported the government in a crucial Commons vote.
